PLAYING OPPORTUNITY: Friday, February 20th!

We have been asked to play a birthday party of a long time Longhorn fans 80th birthday on Friday, February 20th.

The guests arrive at 6:30 p.m., and the guest of honor shortly thereafter (it’s a surprise)! The party will be at the home of Don & Jean Rude (402 Hurst Creek Road in Lakeway).

Our performance will take place outside, weather permitting. The hosts will be serving barbeque and adult beverages (and they would hope everyone has a designated driver).

Directions: 620W to the City of Lakeway; turn right on Lakeway Blvd; right on Lohman’s Crossing; right on Hurst Creek Road, and their home will be on the right. It usually takes about 30 minutes from 2222 & 360 in Austin (depending on traffic) to get there.

Tune into A&E on Tuesday, February 24 to see Big Bertha on Shipping Wars! They were one of the many moving parts in getting her to London. Watch for your friends and former LHAB's presidents on the show. We're proud of their volunteerism to our organization and we thank you for your efforts!

Big Bertha is a hit over here!!!! We have been featured on the morning and evening news. We have had several filming opportunities with the BBC and our last one will be live for the breakfast segment on Jan. 1st.

Support our Sweetheart!  Our beloved bass drum, Big Bertha, is on her
first international journey accompanying the Longhorn Alumni Band as
they march through the streets of London, England at the head of the
Lord Mayor's London New Years Day Parade!  Needless to say, getting this
90+ year old treasure safely "across the pond" and back is a monumental
undertaking that could only be done first class from start to finish. 

While Bertha has been in the able care of experienced Drum Wranglers
volunteering from within our own ranks, we have also hired a team of
professional shippers, contracted with an air cargo service, rented
warehouse space, and taken out a substantial insurance policy to cover
any contingency.  This part hasn't been cheap!  That's where you come
in. 

Help us defray these costs now so we can devote more funds raised
in the future to providing scholarships to deserving Longhorn Band men
and women, and support the many other worthwhile endeavors of The
Showband of the Southwest.  The newly rechartered Longhorn Band
