Instrument Check Out

It’s time to dust off those horns again!  We are anticipating another great turnout this year, so here is the general info on instruments.

First, please REGISTER EARLY to reserve an instrument if you need one.  We have a very limited amount of instruments and if you wait until Friday night, we cannot guarantee the correct instrument for you.  REMINDER, we do not own any woodwind instruments to check out, so please bring your own.  Also, if you can borrow an instrument from a friend, family member, or local school, PLEASE DO!  We are looking into getting more mellos and percussion, but as always, we anticipate having a limited amount.

This year on the registration section of the website, we will have an updated number of instruments available for a first come, first served basis.  Instruments will be handed out between 5:00pm and 6:45pm at the loading dock at St. David's Church, look for the U-Haul truck, on Friday, October 17th.  Please show up early, because those who do will be given priority when selecting an instrument.

If by chance you still have an instrument from last year, please contact me so I can update our inventory.  If you ABSOLUTELY cannot attend on Friday and you cannot have someone else pick up you instrument for you, please contact me.  I look forward to seeing everyone again this year!

And please, BRING YOUR OWN INSTRUMENT IF POSSIBLE!!!  TUBA!’s and Mellos, if you are checking out an instrument, bring your own mouthpiece and valve oil.  Mellos, be aware that we own “F” Mellos, as that has been an issue in the past.  Percussion, bring your own mallets as we do not own any.

If you have any questions, send an e-mail to jaime_r_luna@yahoo.com.

Guest Game Tickets Iowa 2014

This year, we tentatively have tickets reserved for us in the section adjacent to where the LHAB is sitting. Please see the stadium diagram for the location of our seats (sections 120 and 121) and available guest seats (section 122). Guests seats are available for $55 each (face value- the amount the LHAB is charged), and you may purchase them on our registration form. Pick guest tickets up Friday night at the business meeting or Saturday during check-in.
Please understand that because there are so many season ticket holders in the stadium and because of a new NCAA rule that requires a certain number of visiting fans to sit near the field, we do not have a choice as to our guest seating location. We are grateful to UT Athletics for making this block of seats available to us.

2014 Band Day Show

http://www.lhab.org/photos/uploads/IMG_0243.JPG
Band Day 2005 Celebrating 50 years of Mr. D.
2014 show will be a tribute to Vincent R. DiNino. LHAB will spell out his name and 1918-2014 spelled by LHB. In a combined set, we will play one of Mr. D's favorite's, Wabash Cannonball, which was orginally introduced in 1970 by Mr. D. for the legendary Longhorn football coach, Darrell K. Royal.  Following a video tribute, we will end with "Heyyy Up" gesture and play the Eyes of Texas and Texas Fight.

Please join us for this memorable halftime show. The more the merrier!

London Uniform Distribution

Originally we proposed of shipping the uniforms one way with our consignment. Due to unforeseen complicated circumstances, this will NOT be possible. You or your designated friend, member of the family, another trusted traveler, etc. need to retrieve it beforehand. All uniforms will be signed for by whoever picks it up. It is your responsibility to facilitate pickup if you are unable to do so yourself.

Band Day Weekend Pickup Options:

Friday, October 17, 2014. You may pick up your London uniform during Band Day registration / check-in.

Saturday, October 18, 2014 You may pick up your London uniform during Band Day check-in from 10-11 a.m. only.

Sunday, October 19, 2014. Please contact Nefertiti Williams to arrange to pick up your uniform after the Memorial Service for Vincent R. DiNino. It's likely after 3:30 p.m.

Anything not picked up will be mailed at your additional expense to the address given to us via your London registration. Special consideration will only be given to those not living within the U.S. as determined by the LHAB president.

Band Day Blast 2014

Welcome! I am thrilled to have our newest and most seasoned alumni join us for our 51st Annual Reunion! It has been an adventurous journey during 2014 from Mack Brown retiring to welcoming Charlie Strong, prepping Alumni Band's first international London trip with Bertha in tow, and saying goodbye to our beloved director and friend, Vincent R. DiNino. This year's show theme will be a tribute to Mr. DiNino for all his outstanding work and life's accomplishments. I hope you will join us as we honor him with a grand performance!

This year our annual business meeting & playing rehearsal will be held at St. David's Church. Based on last year's survey feedback and the limited practice time for Saturday's rehearsal, we have decided to have our scholarship presentation on Friday night. Saturday, Oct. 18th check- in will be at the Band Hall with marching rehearsal continuing at the Bubble. Sunday, October 19th will be Mr. D's Memorial Service at the Bass Concert Hall followed by a reception at Scholz's. Click here for the weekend schedule.

Your LHAB officers have been working diligently behind the scenes to make Band Day a success. They could definitely use a pat on the back and an extra hand. We are looking for volunteers who have a commitment to excellence, UT spirit, a positive can- do attitude, and willingness to collaborate with a diverse group of members.  If you're interested in being an officer, assisting with rehearsal as section leader, playing at local events in your area, or helping out with Band Day preparations, please drop us a line or indicate it on your registration form. Your time and talent are greatly appreciated.

Please take the time to update your profile on our site, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. All of the latest Band Day updates will be on www.lhab.org --->Band Day.
It has been a pleasure serving you and seeing your enthusiasm throughout the year. Thank you for making this organization feel like home. I know Vincent and Jane are proudly looking down on us as we continue their legacy of camaraderie and musical excellence. We anticipate having a historic, memorable weekend and welcome your attendance at any or all of the events.
