Letter from the LHB Director

Dear LHAB,

What an eventful fall we have experienced on the 40 acres thus far.  Words cannot describe the roller coaster of emotions!  From the thrill of freshman seeing their name on the LHB list posted Friday night of Hell Week, to the first entrance through the tunnel of DKR-TMS, meeting Coach Strong and tasting that first victory against UNT.  Then, the overwhelming feeling of loss of the one, the only Vincent R. DiNino followed by our heartfelt tribute to VRD at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington just last weekend . . . a roller coaster indeed!

I cannot say enough about the students of the 2014 Longhorn Band - their attitude, work ethic, passion and ability to comprehend the circumstances and put forth so much love to a man most of them only knew through legend or a fleeting glimpse of him on the ladder in years past or, for the freshman, simply by word of mouth in the past 3 weeks.  I am so proud of their efforts!!!!!  I speak for us all when I say we look forward with incredible anticipation to October 18 and Alumni Band Day when we get to stand on the field with the Longhorn Alumni Band and pay homage to all VRD has done for UT, LHB and, most importantly, the individual members who make LHB what it was and what it continues to be to this very day!  We owe him so much more than we can possibly pay!

I cannot wait for October 18 - let’s make this the biggest and best!  "To The Top Of The Stadium"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely -

Robert Carnochan
Director, Longhorn Band
